Background: Dan grew up on the "ice coast" (east coast) in Rochester, NY. He started skiing at the age of 5. Having conquered the local "mountains" (really big hills) he switched over to snowboarding around the age of 14. By the time he got into collage he had snowboarding mastered so he made a return to skiing. After college he came to his senses and moved out west where the real mountains are and now resides in Portland Oregon. Back east Dan spent a lot of time in the park and ripping down groomers. Now you can find him blasting up the rest of the mountain, especially on pow days. Dan has only worked for US Outdoor for one year but has been working in the ski industry for 5 years. In the off season Dan likes to spend his time off camping, hiking, and backpacking.
Want a ski that can hold up for a more experienced skier but is very easy to ski?
Look no further than the Volkl 100Eight. These babies will keep you happy and lapping runs all day long. They're fully rockered and fully capable of laying down tracks on groomers, plowing through crud, or floating through some pow. I enjoyed it a little more off-piste than on, but definitely a good all around ski. The full rocker shape combined with different wood densities in the core make turn initiation a breeze.
