Versatility can be defined by the written word or by actions; the Men’s Varius Guide Jacket carries out the actions of a versatile waterproof and breathable jacket that stands up to a multitude of conditions. Fully seam sealed for superior weatherproofing, the Varius Guide Jacket runs head on through the gauntlet. Its zip-in compatibility allows you to combine insulated liners within this outer shell if conditions call for it, thus adding more comfort, warmth and protection when the temperature drops. When that happens you can rest assured that a fully adjustable and removable hood with lower face protection will be there to batten down the hatches. Rain, snow, sleet, hail, wind, and/or a combination of them all are no match for The North Face Varius Guide Jacket. Its versatility shines like a ray of sunlight through the darkest, most looming conditions; that’s deep!

"This jacket is bullet proof, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a versatile ski jacket that can double as a light rain jacket or shell."

"Purchasing the North Face varius guide jacket was a no brainer for me. I did some backpacking down in the Amazon and up into the Andes and I pretty much wore this jacket whenever the weather permitted. It worked great for staying dry during the torrential rains of the rain forest and when I needed it to shield me from bitter cold and flash snow storms in the Andes I just layered up with a zip-in fleece and it kept me dry and warm. When it gets cold I recommend a few layers or a zip-in fleece underneath. You can probably find better jackets for extreme mountain conditions, but for the price I’d rather layer up to stay warm. Plus, it is light enough to wear around on casual walks in mild temperatures and when it's raining. This is a cool jacket and I give it two thumbs up. "
A great multi use jacket

"The varius guide jacket is really something. I have been in need for a raincoat for some time now, but I could never find one that I actually liked enough to commit. Luckily, my wife made the decision for me and surprised me with this jacket. I am glad she did because the varius guide jacket is my main winter-spring-fall jacket. I live in the Northwest, so it pretty much comes in handy nine months out the year. It is definitely water proof and wind resistance. I helped my friend transfer a truck load of gravel from his frontyard to his backyard on probably the rainiest day of the year, back in April, and after working outside for 5 hours of straight rain I was totally dry under my jacket. I cannot say the same for my buddy and the rest of my body, ha. It was impressive. I admit it’s not the warmest jacket when temperatures start to get close to freezing, but if you wear a fleece or sweater underneath you will be loving it. I have worn it up at the mountain a few times, doing some snow shoeing, and it worked great, so my raincoat is also my mountain jacket, which is an awesome two for one. "
Great Rain and Snow Jacket!

"The North Face Varius Guide Jacket is my go-to snowboarding and raining season jacket. Great for the mountain in crazy harsh conditions and great for just wearing in the town during torrential or light rain storms. It will keep you dry, wind resistance and has adequate breathability. Light and rolls up small for easy packability. If temperatures dip down to sub freezing its easy to layer up underneath. "
