Born from a professional skier’s passion for innovative racing gear, Spyder Brand clothing came to life in David Jacob’s kitchen in the late 1970s. The brand got its name from the unique, web-like padding on its original ski pants. Within two years, demand for his high-quality clothing had outgrown Jacob’s limited kitchen space, and the brand has continued to expand from there for almost 30 years.
Many members of the Spyder team have been involved in the snow sport industry for over 20 years and their expert knowledge comes through in the clothing designs. Nowadays, Spyder makes more than just ski pants. The brand also produces jackets, shirts, head wear, racing suits, and gloves for skiing, snowboarding and other winter sports.
Having originated as a racing pants company, the brand continues to focus on gear for athletes who love high speeds. Serious athletes rigorously test all of its gear to ensure that it will hold up no matter what you put it through. If you like to spend more time racing than playing around in the snow, this brand might be for you.
Spyder designers focus on developing and using the latest insulation technologies. For example, the brand’s men’s Leader Jacket, Cosmos Jacket and Foreman Jacket all use Thinsulate™ Insulation, a top-of-the line thin, yet extra warm insulation. The women’s Spyder Amp Jacket uses the brand’s own technology, ThermaWeb™ insulation, to trap body heat and keep you warm in the coldest conditions. Spyder’s women’s Breaker Jacket uses PrimaLoft® insulation, a revolutionary soft insulation that feels similar to down but remains water resistant in the wettest conditions. When the brand does use down, like in the women’s Timeless Hoody, it uses the highest quality “power fill” down to provide serious warmth without much weight.
The brand pays attention to design as well as warmth. For example, the Breaker Jacket contains less insulation in the arms than in the torso to provide extra freedom of movement in the arms. Attention to detail is huge part of what will make you fall in love with Spyder clothing. Spyder designs are always stylish and functional. For example, the brand makes gloves with unbeatable polyurethane grips, jackets with sealed seams, and a large selection of fashionable and warm hats.
Spyder technologies don’t stop at warm insulation, the brand also uses a range of high-tech waterproof shell materials, comfortable wool, waterproof and breathable glove inserts, padding materials, sleek adhesives and durable fabrics. In short, Spyder jackets and gear will keep you warm, dry and comfortable throughout any ski slope conditions. Its durable constructions will also withstand whatever extreme activities you put them through. The brand makes clothing for men, women and children, so even little speedsters can enjoy its quality.
