Before Salomon revolutionized skiing forever, people used a crude leather strapping system to bind their feet to their skis. This was fine as long as you were a fan of snapping ankles, but once Salomon began redesigning and manufacturing ski components in 1947, the sport has never stopped getting better.
Francois Salomon founded the company with the help of his wife and son, Georges, in Annecy, France not long after the end of WWII. What started in a wood saw workshop with making ski edges, continually evolved and five years later, Salomon’s production technique included automated machinery. Georges transformed Salomon into the world leader that they are today by introducing the skade in 1955, and a binding featuring the self-release heelpiece in 1966. From there on out, the design of bindings, boots, and skis was transformed.
Your entire ski kit can be considered top of the line since Salomon’s name is found on high performance gear like the Suspect Ski, STH 14 Driver Binding, Quest 12 Boot, and the Northpole Ski Pole. Each piece of equipment is engineered using the most innovative materials to ensure the most explosive skiing experience any brand can offer. When you have durability, functionality and attitude this intense, the entire mountain becomes your playground as your limits vanish.
Salomon doesn’t limit themselves to producing just the best hard goods on the market either. Outerwear to dominate the elements on even the most savage of winter days is another of Salomon’s specialties. ClimaPRO technology elevates the waterproofing and breathability in the both the men’s Zero II Jacket and the women’s Brilliant Jacket. Both genders can reap the benefits provided by the Salomon Sideways II Pants. Guys and girls each have their own models, but each one brings all the warm and cozy quality necessary for a perfect day of skiing or snowboarding.
Undertaking a new challenge that most typical ski companies never even consider, Salomon has recently become a force to be reckoned with in the niche of trail running shoes. Seasons become irrelevant as models like the Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 Running Shoes and the Salomon Speedcross 3 Climashield Trail Running Shoe excel through all types of weather and terrain. Ortholite insoles provide premium comfort while managing moisture to keep your feet cool and dry. Throw in the Quicklace system with the ContaGrip outsole, and you have the right shoes to tackle any trail. Salomon was born in the mountains, so it only makes sense that their footwear can stand up to the fiercest of conditions.
Salomon is able to invent the tomorrow of mountain sports through an unmatched dedication to progression. Their performance-fueled gear is the result of creative design, bold innovation and a never-ending pursuit to convert dreams into reality. The past 65+ years are no fluke. Salomon has earned its place among the best.
