Background: A product of Colorado, Sami began learning the ways of the force (skiing) from her uncle who spent a vast majority of his time in the backcountry of Steamboat Springs. She carried that knowledge through university, balancing college courses with skiing and a budding career in the outdoor industry. Soon after college, Sami made the pilgrimage to the Pacific Northwest, landing at the U.S. Outdoor Store where her drive for all things outdoor and unique sense of humor instantly connected with the culture.
Conditions on test day: 3-4" new snow, 31 degrees, new + tracked pow
I took the Rossignol Savory 7 skis up for a night at Ski Bowl unsure of what to expect. This ski felt surfy yet sturdy as soon as they hit the snow. With 106mm underfoot and fresh snow coming down, I pointed downhill and let these sticks do the rest. The first run was real tracked out, and i quickly realized these puppies belong up in the deep stuff.
With almost no visibility at the top, I dropped in and could immediately feel the stable yet floaty and playful touch that the Savory 7's had to offer. All night long they felt manageable and responsive with a light swing weight - a good versatile ski for the intermediate to advanced skier. I rode the 170's but I definitely could have sized up in those conditions.
