The Arc'teryx Alpha SV Jacket is specifically designed for climbing and alpine focused adventures. It features a durable waterproof GORE-TEX® Pro Shell for protection against the elements. The GORE-TEX® fabric is also windproof and breathable for superior comfort. Its Storm Hood keeps the head dry and is also helmet compatible. Pit zips provide quick ventilation. The Alpha SV also has very large bellowed chest pockets for plenty of storage space. These pockets are laminated. This jacket is so durable, comfortable and protective that the American Alpine Guides Association selected it as best in class.

  Best in Class

REVIEWED BY: ALPINEENTHUSIAST    11/26/2012

"Although the price is initially a detractor, I think most people who are considering a jacket like this, will come to find that the Arcteryx Alpha SV is well worth it.

My own experience includes "high altitude" wind and sleet in the Cascade range (I.e. Rainier, Adams and Baker). So far I there are no discernible flaws.

I always fall between a small and a medium with Arcteryx. A word of advice: go smaller with the SV if you are on the fence. It has ample room with its 'expedition fit'.

The new Goretex Pro won't leave you feeling under-prepared or wanting. It's serious about keeping you dry. It also blocks wind quite well.

My favorite feature is the hood. True helmet compatibility has never felt so good.

The brimstone color turns heads if you end up wearing this in town, not necessarily a good thing (if you're a wallflower-introvert like myself). But then, you don't buy an SV for town. This is, simply-put, top-shelf Backcountry kit."

  Super Jacket

REVIEWED BY: V.P.    10/02/2012

"Windproof, waterproof, roomy pockets, helmet compatible hood I do not think I could have designed a better climbing jacket if I had done it myself. This jacket is freaking awesome. I stay perfectly dry and the wind does not chill me to the bone. The Arcteryx Alpha SV jacket is durable and comfortable. "

  Top Notch Jacket

REVIEWED BY: SNOW_SAM    7/02/2012

"You can’t beat the Alpha SV! Arc’terx jackets are pretty much the premium jacket. I know they are a little on the pricey side, but I think it is well worth it. This jacket is totally waterproof and shields you from the coldest and nastiest conditions. The hood fits over my helmet nicely and the collar protects your face from harsh winds. The two large pockets are great for storing items. "

  Alpha SV Jacket

REVIEWED BY: HAYDEN    3/20/2012

"The Arcterx Alpha definitely lives up to its reputation—this jacket is like a tank! Awesome shell. This coat keeps you warm and dry in some of the harshest conditions. I have scaled many mountains and been caught in some sub-freezing temperatures with crazy below zero wind chills and the Alpha has kept me sealed and protected. The hood works well with helmets and can be adjusted with ease. The material is durable and well worth the price tag. "
